Dr. Nikos Manouselis

Short CV
Mr. Manouselis is associated with the Informatics Laboratory of the Agricultural University of Athens since 2005. From January 2008, he is working for the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET S.A.). He has a diploma in Electronics & Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece (2000). He has also a Master in Operational Research from the Dept. of Production & Management Engineering (2002), as well as, a Master in Electronics & Computer Engineering from the Dept. of Electronics & Computers Engineering (2003), both from the Technical University of Crete, Greece. In 2008, he has completed a PhD thesis on the application of metadata technologies to support social information retrieval in the domain of agriculture, at the Informatics Laboratory of AUA.His diploma thesis has been awarded an Honorary Distinction from the Technical Chamber of Greece (2nd Place 2000). In 2005, he has received a PhD Presentation Distinction at the International Congress on Information Technologies in Agriculture, Food and Environment (ITAFE05).
During 2001-2004, Mr. Manouselis has been a member of the Informatics & Telematics Institute of the Centre for Research & Technology, Greece. During 2000-2001 he has been a member of the Decision Support Systems Laboratory of the Technical University of Crete, Greece. He has also been a junior research assistant of the Multimedia Systems & Applications Laboratory of the Technical University of Crete, Greece. He has participated in several European and National Research Projects.
Mr. Manouselis is actively involved the Agricultural Information Management Standards
and Agricultural Ontology Services initiatives of the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Together with FAO, he is promoting the establishment of an international Task Force on Agricultural Learning Repositories (AgLR-TF, http://aglr.aua.gr).
Mr. Manouselis has co-edited a Special Issue on Agricultural Metadata & Semantics for the International Journal of Metadata, Semantics & Ontologies (IJMSO), and a Special Issue on Social Information Retrieval in Technology-Enhanced Learning for the Journal of Digital Information (JoDI, http://journals.tdl.org/jodi/issue/view/66) .
In addition, he has co-chaired a Workshop on Learning Technology Standards for Agriculture and Rural Development (AgroLT 2008, http://infolab-dev.aua.gr/agrolt/2008/), a Workshop on Social Information Retrieval in Technology-Enhanced Learning (SIRTEL 2007, http://infolab-dev.aua.gr/sirtel2007/), a Special Session on Agricultural Metadata & Semantics during the 2nd International Conference on Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR''07). He is currently co-chairing a Special Track on Metadata & Semantics for Agriculture, Food and Environment (in the context of MTSR''09, http://infolab-dev.aua.gr/mtsr09/).
